About Pour Somme

Christina and Rebekkah came up with the idea behind Pour Somme during the long 2020 lockdown. They dreamed of getting back to a world where they could share a bottle of Cava with a few friends over brunch or drink cheap Pinot Grigio at Happy Hour. On the heels of the pandemic, the goal of Pour Somme is to bring people together, as wine has done for thousands of years. We strive to be approachable and interesting — our classes are a place to try new wines, learn about them, and hopefully make friends and connections along the way. Additionally, as two women in a heavily male-dominated field, we want to expand the world of wine to include more experts. We intentionally highlight “non-traditional” growers and makers who are invigorating the wine industry.

Rebekkah Zion

You’d never know it, but Rebekkah missed out on wine in her early twenties, preferring instead to drink sweet and fruity cocktails, until she finally discovered Moscato, her gateway wine. She quickly realized she loved wine’s complex and interesting flavors and has expanded her palate significantly since. Rebekkah was inspired to become a sommelier after successfully blind tasting a series of wines during a class and took her first test with the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2022. She plans to continue her wine journey by studying, passing additional examinations, and tasting the required bottles to get there. In addition to her wine expertise, Rebekkah has a background in education with a focus on marketing, business development, and writing. In her other life, she loves singing, genealogy, and her two Chihuahuas, Smokey and Bandit.

Christina is an appreciator of wine and, like many many of our attendees, is still expanding her knowledge of the many varietals and history. To Rebekkah’s chagrin, she sometimes indulges in mid-winter boxed rosé and has not yet mastered the pour. While she handles more of the business end, she’s planning to get more formal wine training in the new year. Christina has a background in writing and marketing, with experience in advertising for regulated industries and consumer packaged goods. She is also a fourth generation cheese maker. Outside of Pour Somme, Christina loves baking, home improvement projects, and attempting to keep her plants alive.
